International Travel: It’s a Breeze

 In AG Bell, English, Madrid

It’s no secret that airfare prices fluctuate from day to day. For the unknowing traveler, buying plane tickets can feel like playing a game of roulette. Fortunately, we know how to successfully play that game for the best results. With a little help from us, you’ll be an expert at purchasing airline tickets too.

TIP: Before you purchase a ticket, make sure that your passport is valid for six months after your return date! If you don’t have a passport, find out how to get one.

When to Purchase Tickets

Studies have shown that the best time to purchase tickets from the U.S. to Europe is anywhere between 8 months to 6 weeks in advance. If you are attending the 2019 AG Bell Global LSL Symposium, take this as a sign to purchase your ticket as soon as possible!

TIP: The latest date you should consider purchasing a ticket for the symposium is Tuesday, May 14. After that date, ticket prices will increase to their most expensive point.

Best Days to Fly

Not all days are created equal. When traveling from the U.S. to Europe, the least hectic days to fly are on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. With the symposium beginning on a Sunday, this gives you the perfect excuse to arrive a few days early or stay a few extra days to make a vacation out it.

Flight Tracking Mobile Apps

Sorting through data on travel sites can be a daunting task – competing airlines, endless options of flight times, different price points, connections, layover times, etc. Do yourself a favor and download a mobile app to do the heavy lifting for you.

Take Hopper for example. You can download this app for free from Google Play or Apple Appstore. Once it’s installed on your mobile device, simply type in your arrival and departure dates, and Hopper will send you weekly reports on pricing.

If your flexible on your arrival and departure dates, let Hopper know and the app will suggest the cheapest dates to fly. And if you don’t want to make any connections, you can eliminate those flights from your recommended list. Mobile apps with similar functionality include Skyscanner and Kiwi.
