How the Health of the Auditory Nerve Affects Performance with a Cochlear Implant
Our presentation will focus on the influence of auditory nerve function and health on performance with a cochlear implant (CI). We will present results obtained in animal models of cochlear implantation, and explore how those findings translate to children and adults who listen with CIs.
- Understand how we use animal models to assess cochlear implant function.
- Explain the relationship between objective measures and the condition of the auditory nerve.
- Describe how objective measures of neural health relate to speech recognition performance in humans with cochlear implants.
